Acer has jumped the gun a little bit, considering that CES has not even started yet. But regardless Acer has announced a new ultrabook called the Aspire S5. The company claims it to be the thinnest in the world. The S5′s magnesium-alloy and brushed-metal body measures in at a cool 15mm at its thickest point. Acer’s built in Instant On technology brings the computer back from sleep in 1.5 seconds. Users can even manage their data on the computer from a smart phone when the machine is asleep. This technology is being called Acer Always Connect. Inside the computer has some Intel Core processor (Acer didn’t say which one), SSD storage, and Dolby Home Theater audio. But most interesting is the inclusion of a Thunderbolt port capable of 20Gbps speeds. The S5 also includes USB 3.0 and HDMI ports.

Acer has not announced a release date or a price as of now. But it will all be made clear at Acer’s press conference later this week at CES. So be sure to stay tuned.
